Scholarship Opportunities for CoBE Students
The College of Business and Economics have separate sources of financial aid offered for their students.
UH System Scholarships
These scholarships are available through the UH System Common Scholarship Application
Masami & Mae M. Aito Endowed Excellence Scholarship
- Full-time undergraduate CoBE student
- Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better
- Graduate of a Big Island High School
Aoyagi Family Endowed Scholarship Fund
- Full-time undergraduate CoBE student
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better
- Graduate of a Hawaii Island High School
James & Grace Arakaki Endowed Excellence Scholarship
- Full-time undergraduate CoBE student
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better
- Graduate of a public high school in State of Hawaii, preferably on Big Island; veterans, honorably discharged from active US military service; or the son/daughter of a veteran, honorably discharged from active US military service
Fujimoto Family Endowed Scholarship
- Full-time undergraduate CoBE student
- Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better
- Preference to student accepted into an internship program
Herbert Segawa Endowed Scholarship
- Full-time, undergraduate CoBE student with sophomore standing or higher
- Graduate of high school in the State of Hawaii
- Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
Richard R. Taniguchi Endowed Scholarship
- Full-time, student majoring in Business at UH Hilo
- Minimum GPA of 2.0

CoBE Coordinated Scholarships
The College of Business and Economics at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo coordinates the distribution of the scholarships listed below. Applications will be available in February and due in March of each year. Students selected to receive scholarships will be informed in May. Scholarships are awarded for the following academic year. Consult the following listing for minimum requirements for each scholarship.
CoBE Tuition Scholarship
- Minimum 24 credit hours at UH Hilo at time of application
- Minimum 3.0 GPA at UH Hilo
- Full-time student during award period (>=12 credits) and maintain 3.5 GPA
- Consider academic achievement, personal statement, previous achievements
- Priority to students pursuing first baccalaureate degree
Hawaiʻi Island Chamber of Commerce Scholarship
- Must be an entering or continuing junior or senior during the scholarship year (Junior standing is 55 semester hours)
- Show academic excellence
- Show participation in school and community activities
- Must be of good moral character
- Full-time student during award period (>=12 credits)
- Prefer students who graduated from high schools on the Big Island
Rotary Club of Hilo Scholarship
- Must be an entering or continuing junior or senior during the scholarship year (Junior standing is 55 semester hours)
- Show academic excellence
- Show participation and service in community activities (higher priority) or university community (lower priority)
- Must be of good moral character
- Prefer students who graduated from high schools on the Big Island
Taketa, Iwata, Hara & Associates Scholarship
- Full-time undergraduate CoBE student majoring in Accounting
- Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better
- Preference to graduates of a State of Hawaii high school
