Beginning in Spring 2012, UH Hilo's Bachelor of Business Administration program will be available to students residing in West Hawaii, without the need to come to Hilo for classes. The program will allow students who have taken the Liberal Arts/Associate in Arts with a Business Emphasis program offered by Hawaii Community College to enter directly into the BBA program and complete the BBA degree in five semesters of classes.
Students with an Associate in Arts degree from any regionally-accredited community college can also enter the BBA program by taking the program prerequisite courses listed here from the Hawaii Community college in West Hawaii, or online from other units of the UH System.
Not ready for the program yet? There will be a new cohort starting in Fall 2014, using the same model. Start preparing now, and we will be happy to include you! Counselors at the West Hawaii Center can help you choose courses as you prepare.
How the program will work
Each semester, the College of Business and Economics will make either three or four classes available in West Hawaii using videoconferencing technology. Students in West Hawaii will become part of a regular class held in Hilo, participating in class discussions and asking questions through state-of-the-art High Definition videoconferencing. West Hawaii students will be counted as regular UH Hilo students, and will register for the same classes as Hilo students. The one exception is that West Hawaii students will move through the BBA program as a cohort, all taking the same classes each semester.
